Laura’s focus on being a sustainable artist is at the core of her artistic practice.

Starting in 2025, all pieces by Laura Wickstead will be painted using UK made eco-friendly acrylic paint on 12oz cotton canvas. This will be stretched over museum standard stretcher bars made from 100% PEFC certified pine and stapled into place using recyclable stainless steel staples.

Her available artwork still features individual paintings but will now also offer multi-canvas pieces to utilise the full length of a canvas roll and avoid wastage.

Once a painting is complete, each artwork is taken off its frame and rolled up for protection so that the stretcher bars can be reused. When a piece sells, Laura will re-stretch and prepare the piece for its new home. This helps keep excess materials to a minimum.

This initiative was developed by Laura over many years to help protect the environment that offers so much inspiration for her work.
